Presentation Reflection
OK, This is my "Ghost Towns" presentation I had to do for 5pd. I have some question to fill out, here they are!
Did you stand up straight but stay relaxed?
I did stand up but I was not that relaxed.
Did you pause for a moment before you began your speech?
I did pause for a moment, it helped a lot.
Did you look at your audience?
It hard not to look at the audience. They were all staring at me!
Did you let your facial expressions naturally reflect what you were saying?
I didn't pay much attention to my facial expressions, I paid a lot of attention to my hand motions though.
Did you use your hands?
I did use my hands.
For each of the following questions, describe what went well and what you could improve in the area of VOICE. Write two complete sentences for each question.
Did you speak loudly enough so that everyone could hear you?
I tried to speak very loudly and clearly. I had about 50 eyes staring at me so I did the best I could.
Did you change your tone to show how you felt (upset, excited) about an idea or to emphasize a point?
I did change the sound of my voice to demonstrate feeling. When I was talking about people dying I made my voice sound sad.
Was your speed of delivery too fast, too slow or just right?
I don't know if was going to fast or to slow. I mostly paid attention to knowing what I had to say and using hand motions.
General questions:
Write two complete sentences for each question.
Did you practice your speech at home before giving it?
Mr. B. will be angry with me but I did not. With teachers piling a ton of paperwork on 8th graders I didn't have time to.
What did you notice that you did well in your speech?
I noticed the I walked around a lot and I used hand motions. Most of the other people that presented just stood in one place.
Describe one aspect of public speaking you will work to improve?
I will try to improve not being do nervous. I think once I get over that I will be fine.

Interview
I interviewed Peggy (The co-owner of EDDY'S)
1. What was your inspiration?
"I started sewing when I was very young, at age 8. I also went to college and started to paint clothing."
2. Your designs are very unique, Do you make a sketch first or do you have inspiration hit as you go along?
"I don't do a sketch first, It just comes to me."
3. How do you know which parts of T-shirts will be perfect for your designs?
"I don't know, I have different pieces of T-shirts that I use, it just happens."
4. What made you want to open the store EDDY'S?
"Me, Harriet, and Ronnie just wanted to, and Harriet used to sell my work before the store was opened."
5. How do you know which accents and accessories to put on your designs?
"I just kinda think of it as a collage, I just lay my design down and put what think will be perfect on it. I also go to the thrift stores and use whatever I think looks cool. It's like recycling!"
6. Did you go to a design school or start on your own?
"Well, I studied art at college, and I am a trained artist, not designer. I also used to teach at design schools."
7.What is the main feeling behind the designs?
"I would have to say, being individual. As you can see, none of my designs are the same, they are all different!"

Many say art comes from an inner feeling that the artist is having, or maybe a memory, or a wish. The creation of art has been around since the dawning of time. Fashion is a form of art that is wearable to anyone (Unless its super expensive). From the animal skin togas of the cavemen to the elegant silk, pastel colored dresses of the baroque period to the crazy cotton leg-warmers we have now. The store EDDY'S, on 1st street, Langley, brings a whole new look at T-shirts. With the help of local artists, putting all kinds of art on T-shirts, making a new statement to the world. For my 8th grade project I have made 2-3 T-shirts with EDDY'S help and some necklaces I have made with the rocks and shells in the Puget Sound. There are over 25 artists that have contributed their works of art to EDDY'S, I am proud to be one of them. Every artist has either a website, or statement on the EDDY'S website. I will use what they say about their art as some help for this writing piece.
Anna Graves, who is Harriet (The co-owner of EDDY'S) daughter was just bored and got to drawing. For awhile she started adding on to it and when she was finished she dropped it off at EDDY'S. From this I see that art can come from any feeling even if it is accidental. To portray a feeling on a piece of paper or a canvas takes emotion. To show a feeling on piece of clothing takes both emotion and guts. To know that people will be taking it everywhere and everyone they walk by is exciting yet a nervous feeling. Using paint and colors is not the only form of art, there is also music. Robbie Cribs is also an artist that contributes to EDDY'S, his shirt is music. It is clear enough for anyone can read and play this piece of art. The inspiration of his work is unknown to me.
The wonderful pieces of art on the T-shirts at EDDY'S are good enough to put in any fine art store. The diversity of art in the store is like America today, differences in people and attitude. All different ones put together in one store. I chose to work with the people from EDDY'S because they are nice and sweet people, and because they think that art should be shown to everyone by a form of clothing, like me. My inspiration comes from my personal feelings about something, like if I hear a good song, movie, or landscape. The best thing about being an artist is expressing yourself in anyway (like hair!!!!) and having fun doing it!

AWESOME SONG
West Coast friendship by owl city:
To feel rather sad and walls are closing in like the darkness around me
It's so hard to look away when the daylight doesn't ever stay
Above this dull apartment view oh I will surround you
It's quite clear that I'm stuck here
So I'll devise a plan and cut out a door in my new living room floor
The porch light is so bright
That I will quickly sneak down the dark metal shape of the rusty fire escape
I bought a one-way ticket
Cuz I knew I'd never see the ground
Unless I was aboard a jet plane and we were going down
I wiped the tears from my eyes
The warm water took me by surprise.
And I woke up beside the ocean and I realized
I must be in California
Aloha, my happy west coast friends
Do you feel alive when the breaking waves arrive and rush all around you?
The beach homes in Oceanside are quite well-known by the evening tide
And we can sleep where we reside with redwoods around us
The blue air is up there and could I bring it down,
I'd bottle it up and save it for a sweet summer night
I bought a one-way ticket (first-class)
Cuz I knew I'd never see the ground
Unless I was aboard a jet plane and we were going down
When I wiped the tears from my eyes, the warm water took me by surprise
And I woke up beside the ocean and I realized
I must be in California
I must be in California
Am I awake or is this just a dream?
The New Year is out here and
I will make a lovely list of your charms
So I'll never feel alone in your arms
I must be in California
I must be in California
Oh my dear, I can feel you here
I love this song because I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE California.

Reflection#4
My project is going very well. I have not yet turned in all the things I need to turn in but I still have time to do them.
I have already interviewed a nice woman by the name of Meredith McLoud and I am still waiting for a reply. When I emailed her the questions, she only sent back one answer. I tried to be nice to her but sadly she still hasn't replied back. I am getting a little angry at her. My project is almost done except for the interview and the reflections. So far, I'm doing fairly well!

I AM GOING TO READ! OMFG!!!!

OK, everyone that knows me real well must know that I HATE READING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have an announcement that will blow your brains out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM GOING TO READ!!!!!!!!! I plan to read a book called Bran Hambrick and the Farfeld Curse. The book is by Kaleb Nation who is one of my friends on youtube and is about my age or 3-4 years older. Here is some stuff about the book in the author's own words.
"On the third night of the third month in 2003, KALEB NATION, age 14, suddenly imagined a boy and a banker on a roof, waiting for a burglar to come. From that original idea was born the story of Bran Hambric. The first novel (BRAN HAMBRIC: THE FARFIELD CURSE) would take most of Kaleb's teenage years to write.
Aside from writing, Kaleb hosted his first radio show in Texas at age 13, later launching his own program in 2006 called The Top 5. Kaleb’s show grew to be broadcast on AM, FM, Internet and satellite radio stations across the globe before he left to focus on writing.
In 2008, Kaleb launched a blog at TwilightGuy.com, giving chapter-by-chapter insight, from a guy and writer’s perspective, on reading the Twilight Saga, a series of popular novels. The website went on to receive over 3 million hits in its first 9 months online, and was featured in BusinessWeek and Entertainment Weekly magazines. Kaleb also began posting regular videos on his Youtube channel, with a combined total of over 3 million plays.
In his free time, Kaleb enjoys creating music and blogging. A homeschool graduate and a former black belt in taekwondo, he currently attends college in Texas and turned 20 in 2008."

I chose to do my people metaphors on Hayley Williams. She is the lead singer of one of my favorite musical bands (Paramore). I would do Robert Pattinson (sooooooooo cute) but someone else called him. Boo Hoo. Anyway, here is the thing I had to do!Eyes - A raging ocean blocked by two barriers.
Ears - A small canyon studded with diamonds.
Mouth - An instrument used for the making of vocal music.
Nose - A small mountain in the middle of a valley.
Forehead - A flat land near the valleys of the eyes, the mountain of the nose, and the abyss of the mouth.
Hair - A blazing, majestic fire in a bright starry night. ( I want my hair just like this!!!!!!)
Cheeks - Two faded roses inside of a painting.
Teeth - Chipped pieces of white glass.
Lips - Barriers of which the music can escape or not.
Skin - Perfectly painted porcelain. and that's all. I know it might sound a little gay but I wasn't trying to do that. I couldn't really think of a hot guy I liked to put on here, sorry!

Frontier Stuff
I don't know, maybe just living like the frontier people did. That's probably what got me.
What hobbies and interests do you have?
My hobbies are art, yarning (making thing with yarn), crafting, and playing my flute!
What image do you have of pioneer living?
I imagine everyday being very hard but at the end of the day knowing it was worth it.
What's the most challenging thing you and your family (or group) have experienced?
I don't know, maybe when a drunk driver almost hit our car in Texas. Maybe when we were driving through Utah and a very sleeping truck diver fell asleep and accidentaly made his huge 18-wheeler truck turn on its side! EEEEK. Scary!!!!
If you were chosen what do you think you would most miss about modern life?
I would miss my friends, junk food, computers, TV, video games, FREE TIME, ipod, celle-phone, and make-up!
What qualities do you and your family have that make you suited to this experience?
We usually do this sort of thing when we travel, but only for like 10 min.
What skills do you have that may help you?
I know how to make butter, jams, milk a cow (thx to my grandma) and climbing trees.
What would you hope to get out of the experience?
I hope to expand my knowledge of life on the Frontier and to know from experience what it was like!
What do you think will be the most difficult challenge of pioneer life?
Probably the clothes, learning new and harder stuff, not having so much free time, and learing to live without modern day stuff!
What skills would you like to learn from the experience?
I would like to learn how to make food a different way, everything kinda.
We'd like you to tell us:What interests you about this project?
I don't know, just the whole fact of basically "going back in time" to the 1800's.
Do you have any concerns about your participation?
Nope
How much do you know about your family history -- do you have pioneer roots?
I don't know much actually. I only know all the way up to my great-great grandma, that's it.
How did you hear about Frontier House?
I was showed it in class.
Reflection 2
My project is so far is nearly finished (the creation part) and I am stumped on what to do next. I have not chosen anyone to interview and but I plan to during Spring Break. I hope to learn many things when this project is over. Like how to work with a boss, what I can do to improve my art skills, and how I can put different pieces of clothing together in a different way. I have done no research on my topic. I have only looked up famous pieces of art to see if I can make one myself, or alter a different one to where it looks real. I don't want to sound cocky but my progress would be 10 because I have turned everything in on time for this project and the pieces I have for showcase day are ready. Next I am going to try getting my interview in early or on-time. I don't really have any questions about this project, I just know I have to do it and get it done on time and it must be like I said in my short form proposal.

HOT TOPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Hot Topic, its like one of my fav shops. It's not just a goth store you know!!!!. The have like all these different types of skinny jeans like neon, regular jean color, and printed ones. I LUV THEM ALL!!!!! They also have like these hilarious and non-hilarious T-shirts. I heard that they were like the only store to sell Twighlight, Sweeney Todd, and Harry Potter items. SO COOL!!!!
Above I'm going show a pic of what the place looks like and the one of the dream outfits I hope to have from them. So many stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am such a dreamer. I am so happy because I get to there on Saturday. One time I went in there with my mom and my baby sister and they were playing this loud hard metal rock music. A guy that worked there was jumping up and down and singing his heart out (badly). Anyway he scared my poor little 5 yr. old sister. Poor thing. Toodes.

INTIMATE POEMS, OOH LALA
Dear Winter,
Why do you destroy what was once so beautiful?
The browns, the yellows, the reds and colors of my soul.
You come in so cold,
and destroy autumns colors that were once so bold.
Like as if you have no heart,
To just do that and make life go back to the start.
The pristine white blanket you cover everything with,
turning all that was there before into a myth.
When the green season comes again,
New life of plants and animals will sprout once again.
As every year this happens in a cycle,
Once more the winter will come and freeze this place into an icicle.

Please forgive me

Reflection #1 for 8th grade PROJECT
I was so happy when my short-form proposal was accepted. I felt ecstatic. I heard another person in my class say his wasn't accepted. He had chosen to do a snowboarding video. The long term proposal wasn't that hard to write, accept for all the questions. Most of them asked like how much money I needed, I thought that was pretty weird, but I understand why it was there. When I met my mentor, I thought she was pretty nice, she thought the idea of self-designed T-shirts and jewelry was pretty cool. At our first meeting, I sat with the other people who were assigned that mentor and we talked about what we were doing. One girl said she was doing a project on the paranormal, like ghosts and ectoplasm. I felt a little sad because that is another thing I like (its like a hobby kind of). Sometimes I wish I could change what I'm doing for the project, but what have already is good too. It will help me and my career of being a very popular fashion designer I hope to have. I didn't really know who I wanted for my mentor, I just got who I got. I don't know the teachers here to well accept for my own. My project so far is doing pretty good. For showcase day I plan to have like 3 or maybe 4 at the maximum outfits with beach jewelry. I can't make earings, I don't have the stuff to make them and I don't know how to. I think I started my project the day I was told about it. The timeline set for the final project is very reasonable. I plan to be done before then.

Riddles, who wants riddles!!!!!?????!!!!!!
I happen every year.
I cover your home and yard with a white blanket.
I come after brown,
and before green.
I am centuries old.
What am I????
(Highlight for every answer)
__Winter__
You cannot live without me,
yet to much of makes you sick.
I am wild, yet always tame.
I was here since the beginning of time,
but still around.
What am I???
__Water____
What if poem
I would go to carnivals
and people would eat my hair.
I could go anywhere,
but my hair would be gone by the end of the day.
If I got hungry,
I would just have to eat a chunk of my hair.
Hopefully it grows back!!!!

The Evil Monster of my mind... Oooh Scary!

Hey yo, I had this assignment in 5th period and we had to draw monsters. That was fun. I love art and I was so excited when Mr. B said we were drawing. YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well, I bet you wanna see it, here it is. Love ya, toodles.
()()()()(()()()()())()()()()()()()()DESCRIPTION()()()()())()(()()()((()(()(((()(((((()()()()())))()()()()
My sci-fi creature is based out of mythology. It looks like what some people say is the loch ness monster. Its eyes glow an evil shade of red. It has large fangs and a long, snake-like body. It has 4 flippers and on its belly it has a purple-ish hue, and on the top it has a blue-green-ish tint. The monster has yellow spikes on its back and on its tail he has two flippers and two spikes. It lives on the beach and comes up a couple times a year to terrorize everyone for fun. Its mouth is always open so it can pick up a person to eat for a snack. It likes to eat meat and it only arrives on land when a thunderstorm is happening. A thunderstorm is more comfortable for the monster because it is like his environment under water. The monster is very large, maybe 1,000 or 2,000 ft. long. Its fangs are approximately 5ft. The Evil Monster is very aggressive and it attacks anything that moves. Unfortunatly, its eyesight is very bad so its doesn't know what it's eating. Its head is just like that of a poisonous snake. The difference between poisonous and non-poisonous is that poisonous snakes a have a horseshoe shaped head and the other ones don't.
